.the lẹwa story
Shantelle Awomoyi's journey in the jewellery industry began with Lẹwa Jewellery's launch in 2020, but the true essence of the brand was unearthed in 2023 when she took the decisive step to learn the art of jewellery-making in London's historic Hatton Garden.
Initially, Shantelle felt a strong disconnection between the industry's opaque practices and the pieces that she had produced. Using her background in Materials Science, she decided to challenge these norms, and commit to transparency in her craftsmanship.
As a woman of Nigerian and Guyanese descent, Shantelle's heritage is a rich cultural tapestry that deeply influences the significance of jewellery in her life, something that is reflected in the pieces that she creates.
Shantelle's love for jewellery started at an early age; she was gifted cherished pieces as a baby, many of which she still wears today, including the earrings worn in the adjacent image.
This lifelong passion, combined with her proven excellence in engineering, has led her to establish Lẹwa Jewellery.
